GETTING TO KNOW YOU

For some time now, Zoe Fiona has thoroughly enjoyed spending substantial quality time listening to and sharing herself with "beebee dawl" (Offered here phonetically, for your viewing pleasure). There is no lack of bonding between them. There was first the one, given to her by marna marna. Then a second, given by pat pat. Each is equally cherished.

There is an ancient family tradition of naming "beebee dawls" after our deceased grandmothers. There is Ada-doll and Lois-doll. Both hold precious space in Zoe's growing heart. She loves them as a 19-month old can, which, sadly, is better and more love than some folk garner or give in a lifetime. She goes nowhere without one (or both!) of them; she sleeps every night with an arm around each one. Both Ada and Lois are there when Zoe takes flight toward dreamland at the end of a day; both are there to catch her upon her falling into dawn's new light. What they talk about, we do not know, nor should we. They are residents of a secret world comprised of learning to trust, to hold on but not too tightly, to nurture while allowing for freedom, creativity, and compassion, to love without smothering, to attend to while not become overbearing. As parents, we deserve nothing but to know where they are, that they are safe in one another's presence, and that they are honoring one another as much as each knows how.

However, here is a recorded moment (unedited, original languages - no subtitles) that offers all of us an opportunity to listen, to eavesdrop, as it were, into the shared life of Zoe and her Ada-doll.
